Rise and Shine by Tapestry, Kuala Lumpur
Finally tried the overly hyped Rise and Shine by Tapestry after seeing the many Instagram-posts amongst my peers of the stunning ambiance and beautifully plated food and I have to say...
First impressions.... every aspect in terms of interior (in my opinion) was very well thought out. From the brick walls to the tiled table tops and lovely plants, I personally love the feels of what the high ceiling gives.
We were seated on a round table that was right beside their glass window see through kitchen. Loved this aspect as we could see how the food was being prepared!
Rise and Shine Eggs Benedict (RM28)
Free-Range Kampung Eggs Anyway (RM16)
Juices
Mighty Green (RM12)
Oriental (RM13)
The eggs benedict had not much taste, texture wise it was mushy and I felt it lacked a crunch element to it. I like how they replaced your normal English muffins to a potato hash base, a nice twist. The poached eggs on toast (that was cut into half) was RM16?! That's a little ridiculous for the amount of eggs and bread you're getting. That aside, the poached eggs on both plates had perfectly runny egg yolks. If I had to pick between the mighty green juice or the oriental, I'd go for the latter but I would say that the oriental had more of a smoothie mouthful than it was a juice.
Overall, I found the two dishes to be quite bland and to be quite frank, lacked depth of flavour. However, I do appreciate how the eggs were perfectly poached and how the food was well presented on the plate.
I hope the food was just a one time off thing as I've heard many good reviews of it. I should probably pay Tapestry another visit in the near future to see if the food is really what people say it is. Again, just saying I love the interior and I'm sure many of you will enjoy the ambiance of this cafe as well!
