Lagenda House & Cafe, Penang

It was a long overdue catch up with a very close friend of mine so we decided that we were going to hop by a few places to eat hence, why we only ordered one dish here to share!

It is very homey and cozy over here with their wooden interior. I love the choice of dim lights more especially as we were approaching into the night and because.. sakit mata. This place is great for family gatherings or a meal with your loved ones! Their menu consist of our usual local Malaysian favourites as well as some fusion western dishes that I have yet to try but it's nice to know that there are a wide variety of dishes catered for everyone! 

Belalang's Chicken Rendang (RM 22)

Lagenda Cafe exceeded my expectations with their presentation, mainly this dish. I was very pleased with what was presented on the table. I am not one who usually orders chicken rendang when I go out to eat so I didn't have any expectations whatsoever in how this was going to taste. I was so fascinated in the creativity of serving their sides of egg kerabu, keropok (crackers), homemade sambal and vegetables in a congkak platter! The star of the dish, Chicken Rendang was probably the best I had my entire life! I have only had a decent amount of chicken rendang in my life and this easily makes it to first place! A MUST TRY if you come here. The kerabu over here is perfectly acidic and refreshing in the most delightful way that cuts through their delicious lemak-y rendang! Their portion sizes are very generous as I feel two small eaters could have shared this dish. Would come back again just for this! But please bear in mind that I have only eaten a handful different Chicken Rendang's. To my friends who have grown up eating this dish, holler at me if you have better recommendations! 

Service to me is very important and I feel like the staff could have done better. They are definitely packed during lunch and dinner hours but I don't see that as a reason to not be attentive to customers. Sometimes it drives me upset to see that in my receipt "Service Charge" is present yet nothing much was done other than the waiters serving food and me walking to pay for our food. 

Finding a parking spot in town can be a challenge especially when its during lunch or dinner. Thankfully for us we managed to find a spot just a walk down from Lagenda. 

Lagenda Cafe has definitely knocked it out of the park with their delicious, mouth-watering, lemak-y luscious Chicken Rendang! Highly, highly recommend!
