VCR Stacks, Mont Kiara

The talk of the town, the most recently launched, VCR STACKS! Man, with so many people sharing on social media, how could I not be aware of the newly branched out cafe by VCR? I thought long and hard if I wanted to pay a visit and eventually gave in. What made me want to visit? Their sandwich bar concept, I specifically wanted to try their Egg Sando as it is my favourite sandwich of all time. Did their Egg Sando do justice?

If you're seated outside, you'll have to make your way to the cashier to order and pay. I love that they specialize in sandwiches. I find it rare in Malaysia, other than Subway, there aren't many sandwich joints to head to if you're craving for a quick sandwich bite! We always turn into a kid whenever we see people create! Love the open concept kitchen.

Egg Sando (RM15)
I have eaten many Egg Sandos. The simple and satisfying ones I've had were from Japan, and some, made at home! A typical Egg Sando to me would be plain hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, white bread (not toasted) with salt and pepper (optional). VCR has made a twist with their Egg Sando. Their egg salad has an addition of chives, celery, dill and some soft boiled eggs that's served on toasted sourdough brioche. I have to say I would prefer the original version although this wasn't bad, more of a innovative take on the usual. Portions are for small eaters, so if you're planning to have tea or a light breakfast, definitely head down here.

Egg-Cellent (RM15)
Scrambled eggs, topped with chives, sharp cheddar, onion jam and chipotle mayonnaise on a sourdough brioche bun. I love scrambled eggs and they were cooked here to perfection. Soft, light and fluffy. If you're a fan of something more elevated and heaty, this will be for you. I'm not a huge fan of their sourdough brioche for some reason, maybe its not my choice of everyday bread.

Would I come back again to try other sandwiches? Yes.
They also have cakes, salads and waffles!

I would like to say that their on-the-floor-crew deserves a shout out including the people who man their Instagram page. There were a few hiccups with the names as we were waiting to be seated but being in the Service Industry, these things are bound to happen and its totally fine (to me) as long as you know how to counter the situation with good recovery. Today, I was served by Mina, Darshen and Defrey.

They made an apology with the mispronounced names and ensured us that the next immediate table would be ours. Mina (floor-crew) specifically did the recovery and what I liked was that she went straight to the point which was admitting that there was a mistake to which she apologized to assuring our doubts,  all of this was done while she was still smiling! Being in Malaysia, not everybody in the Service Industry smiles these days and some, afraid to confront their mistakes to customers. Mina exceeded my expectations by being very calm and brave. Thank you Mina for being simple and straight to the point with your good choice of words and still smiling the whole way! Excellent recovery.

Just putting it out there that customers aren't always right. Customers make mistakes too. I strongly disagree with the saying - customers are always right.

Darshen, who immediately greeted us and took down our names, despite the number of staff and people, was very attentive and welcoming. I observed that whenever a table was finished with their meal, Darshen and the other crew would immediately clear the table so that other customers would have a shorter wait.

Defrey, who served our meals was very courteous, after serving every dish, would always say "Enjoy your meal". He also always responds "You're welcome" to our "Thank you-s". Something simple that makes a big difference.

Only wish they had their name tags on as it would be easier for customers to address them by name. Other than that, great service from VCR Stacks! Keep on doing what you do and strive for better, always!
